Can't add Nest E that I removed from Nest app

Nest E thermostat wouldn't hold temperatures. Kept running after temps were reached. Found suggestion that said to factory reset so I did. I also removed the device from my Nest app. Now I can't add it again. On the thermostat under Nest App it says "None". Ive scanned the QR code, entered the entry code. Nothing works. I get "Something is wrong" with error TD023.

Hi @Infinite12,

Thanks for your prompt reply!

I appreciate the information provided and your efforts to resolve this situation. It looks like the issue is still present. Let's try these further troubleshooting steps:

  • Put your mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. If unsuccessful, try restarting the phone or tablet.
  • For a better connection, try moving the thermostat closer to the router and mobile device, or vice versa.
  • If possible, try using a different mobile device.
  • To ensure a clean connection, create a hotspot and attempt to pair again. Ensure the device connects to the hotspot, not your home Wi-Fi.

Keep me updated.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Hi @Infinite12,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! It sounds like you're unable to re-add your Nest Thermostat E to the Nest app after performing a factory reset. Now you're encountering the error message 'Something is wrong' with error code TD023 during the setup process. I appreciate you providing detailed information and troubleshooting the issue. No worries, help is here!

The TD023 error indicates a Bluetooth connection issue with your thermostat, typically due to it being off, out of range, or linked to another account. To investigate further, I'd like to ask the following:

  • How far is the Nest thermostat from the router?
  • Do you have any devices or appliances (e.g., baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones) close to the device you're pairing?
  • Is your mobile device or tablet Android or iOS?

Let's start by checking the following:

  • Ensure your Nest app and mobile device's operating system are up to date.
  • Verify Bluetooth is on, and no other devices are connected.
  • Turn off cellular data.

For additional tips, please see this article: Troubleshoot a TD003, TD004, TD009, TD018, TD023, TD024, TD027, TD028, or TD030 error code for Nest ...

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

How far is the Nest thermostat from the router?maybe 15 feet? 20 at most

Do you have any devices or appliances (e.g., baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones) close to the device you're pairing?

the thermostat is located in our hallway, so no. I honestly don't think this has to do with Bluetooth.

Is your mobile device or tablet Android or iOS?

I have an android phone

also, I did make sure the device says "none" under Nest App. So this device shouldn't be linked to any accounts. I've uninstalled and re-installed the Nest App on my phone. I just tried connecting to it again. Made sure cellular data was off.

Jennifer, I could kiss you! Lol. I finally got it paired again. I turned on Airplane mode, turned on Wifi and Bluetooth and tried pairing again and it connected right away. Thank you so much!

Hi @Infinite12,

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear that turning on airplane mode, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth on your phone sorted out the issue. Sometimes these toggles can resolve connectivity glitches.

If you need more assistance in the future, feel free to post again.

Best regards,
