Can’t connect Nest thermostat to google home

EddaH

I’ve had my nest thermostat for several years and it was connected to google home and have had zero issues thus far.  Recently, my WiFi was disconnected and reinstalled and I had to reconnect all my devices back onto Google Home. I cannot re-add my nest thermostat because it’s requiring me to use QR code on back of thermostat to add it. Is there any other way to connect without having to uninstall my nest thermostat?  I can adjust it manually, I suppose, but I like being able to make any changes through the google home app.

Hi @EddaH!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues reconnecting your Nest thermostat to Google Home app after reinstalling WiFi. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What Nest thermostat model do you have? This will help me provide you with the steps to change the WiFi network on your Nest thermostat.
  • When you say "reinstalled" your WiFi, was it a new router, or just a reset of the existing one?
  • Is your new Wi-Fi network 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?
  • Is your Nest thermostat currently displaying any error codes or messages on its screen?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
