I can't get my nest thermostat to connect to either the home or nest app. It was connected to my old phone at some point. I had a lot of trouble setting it up in the first place as it didn't connect too. Somehow it just worked one time via the home app.
The home app see's the nest (e? not learning for sure) on bluetooth as you can select the serial number/device after entering the model number. However, getting to that point usually requires that I restart the thermostat.
The thermostat is fully setup and has been working for almost 2 years. It's connected to the same WIFI as my phone too.
I wish I would have bought a different thermostat under my gas company plan. This one sucks for setup and functionality. I would like them to allow me to choose the low temperature warning level too; not the default of 45F.
I'm NOT going to do a factory reset and loose it all though. Been there, done that. Sat in my living room when it was -10F outside regretting it and almost put the old manual thermostat back on when somehow it finally connected to the home app.
I would guess this is a very common problem?

Hi wildbilly,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.
We're sorry to hear about what's happening and we'd like to try some steps here to help you further.
I know that doing a complete reset on your Nest Thermostat is not your way to go, but doing that will give your thermostat a refreshed connection to the Wi-Fi and to your account. If you're still experiencing the same problem, you may also want to restart your Wi-Fi router and thermostat.
Let us know if you still need help and we'll be glad to assist you.
Regards,
Ryan

A Factory reset worked. I had to go through the whole entire entire setup again 😕
They still only allow 45゚F as the maximum temperature before you get a notification. That is utterly unacceptable. In 3 to 4 hours later my pipes could be frozen After that notification. I need that temperature the temperature to go up to at least 60゚F. This is a simple software change. What's the holdup?
