Cannot connect my thermostat to the wifi or the app. And can't get to QR code on the back. Help!

I moved into a house that had Nest already installed so I cannot get to the back to scan QR code. It was never connected to WiFi, but I could use it manually. Today I decided to reset it to factory settings, assuming it would walk me through a setup process to connect to wifi. Instead, the thermostat simply says "Continue to set up in the Google home app." The Home app doesn't find the device. My thermostat is now not working at all. Help!

The thermostat itself is not wired in--it connects to a plate. If you pull the thermostat off of the wall, there is a QR code on the back of it.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I'd love to help.

Let's give these steps a whirl:

  1. Remove your Nest Thermostat display from its base then remove the batteries on it for at least 60 secs then put them back in.
  2. Go to your Google Home app to try adding your thermostat again. You can visit this support article for additional information on how to add your thermostat to the Google Home app.

Best,

Jenelyn
