I installed my nest and it was working great until it got hot enough to need the AC. Now it does not turn on. AC worked with old thermostat. I checked the wires and are all fully inserted correctly. What else can I do? Is this a compatibility issue?

Post a picture of the original thermostat's wiring here

Hi TooHot1,
Thanks for reaching out here in the community.
I'd like to jump in here and check how your Nest thermostat is doing. If you're still getting the same issue, we could try a couple of things to resolve it. Try to restart your Nest thermostat and then remove the display from the base. Check all the wires, especially the Y wire and make sure it is properly seated. You could also re-strip the wire to expose a new copper line.
Also, change the thermostat mode to cooling and let us know how it goes.
Thank you for your help, Patrick_Caezza.
Best regards,
Ryan

My issue has been resolved. I double checked the wires without luck. Restarting the thermostat did not work. I restripped and reconnected the wires to no avail. There was no cooling setting option on either the thermostat or the app. Finally, I did a factory reset to the thermostat, removed it from the app, and created a new home-adding it once again as a new device. This resolved the issue and I am happy to hear that I was able to have AC working in my house one day before our local weather reached a heat index of 100.
