Hi Rocky2,

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

Are you using the new Nest Thermostat or is it a Nest Learning Thermostat? If you're using the new Nest Thermostat, you should use the Google Home app when adding it to your account.

For Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E, you should use the Nest app and follow the steps here.

Let me know how it goes by replying to this thread.

Best regards,
Ryan

I did not check this thread. Sorry, just seeing this also.

I am using the Nest Thermostat E.

Installed it on the wall, connected it to wifi etc.

Setup on the google home app. That was never an issue.

The issue is adding this on the Nest app.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Go to your phone - Nest app, sign in

2. Go to settings , scroll down ----  click on  + Add product

3. Continue without scanning, scanning the barcode at the back of the Thermostat does the same thing

4. Choose the product you're setting up. Select 'Nest Thermostat E'

5. As thermostat is already installed, configured, on google home, select 'Already installed'

6. Then it says Enter key

Follow the steps on your thermostat's display to find the entry key, or check your thermostat's settings.

7. Enter the key on the back of the thermostat.

This is where we have the issue. Refer to the second screen shot in my original message above.

The screen doesn't have any options to where to click next or proceed! Nothing

Note : there are no instructions on the display.

Google thermostat E's software shows 1.1-9 I clicked on update manually on my thermostat, it says version is up to date. Google released the 1.1-11 update on Jan 27 th 2022. I cannot get that as the thermostat says 'version is up to date. I have restarted my internet router Restarted my phone Done a factory reset on my thermostat, restarted my thermostat No solution to the screen that cannot be passed.

How do we proceed from this screen? where you cant click anything?

Has anybody found a solution to this problem?

I'm having the same issue with my Nest Learning Thermostat. The thermostat is already connected and shows up on the app on my wife's phone. I follow follow these instructions to add it to my phone (Samsung Galaxy S8+)

1. Add Product

2. Continue without scanning

3. Nest Thermostat

4. Next Learning Thermostat

5. Already installed

6. Enter Key

7. The installation hangs on 'Choose the number that matches your thermostat's display' - I just see a 'busy' icon that circles for hours (I left it running overnight).

I have Bluetooth and WiFi turned on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update - I do not get this problem if I scan the barcode on the back of the thermostat - it only occurs when I 'continue without scanning'

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.

I'd like to jump in here and check if you've already tried to remove the device from the app and account first before you do a complete data reset. This would help us further isolate the issue on why we are getting this message when adding it back.

Let us know how it goes by replying to this thread.

Best regards,

Ryan

Did you ever get this figured out? I’m having the same issue with the Nest in the house I just bough. I really don’t want to take it off the wall to find the QR code.
