Is my system compatible with a Nest Learning thermostat when my current Emerson thermostat has a connector labeled “W/E”? I do not have a heat pump.

Hi Bruce10,
Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. Are you located in North America or Europe? Do you have an emergency heat? And could you send us a photo of your thermostat wiring configuration so I can take a closer look? You just use our Compatibility Checker to determine if a Nest Thermostat is compatible with your heating and cooling system.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Zoe

Thanks Zoe. I am in North America. I do not have a heat pump; and I do not have emergency heat.
When I try to upload a picture I receive a message the reads: “You do not have permission to upload images.” Any suggestions for that issue?
BTW, the compatibility checker leaves doubt here because it does not have an option for a connector labeled “W/E.”

Hi there,
If you don't have a heat pump or emergency, therefore, the wire that goes to the W/E terminal of your Emerson thermostat should go to the W1 terminal of the Nest Learning Thermostat, which is the terminal responsible for your heat (furnace).
Thanks,
Zoe

Thanks. When I substitute “W1” for “W/E” in the compatibility test, my system passes.
