Hi, in a previous post, the community informed me that my system is compatible with a Nest thermostat. I just finished my installation based on the wiring recommended from that post, but I'm left with a spare W1 jumper cable from my original thermostat that's now free floating.
The recommended wiring from the previous post:
And a photo of my original thermostat wiring (note the jumper from W to Y):
And here's the labeling recommended during installation:
Is it correct that I should have a leftover W1 jumper wire with neither end connected to anything?

Hi ImmediateLee,
I appreciate you reaching out to us. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
Can you share your Nest Thermostat's wiring setup? Also, if possible, could you share a photo of your system control board showing how the wires are being installed? This is to make sure it was labeled correctly and if the white wire has a purpose.
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark

Hi, here’s a photo of how I wired my Nest, which matches the recommendation I received from this community:
I live in an apartment and to my knowledge I don’t have access to a system control board.

Hey there ImmediateLee,
Perfect! Thanks for sharing your Nest Thermostat's wiring setup. Your thermostat no longer needs any extra wires with the W terminal. You can leave it as it is based on your original thermostat's wiring. But I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here. How's it going using your new Nest Thermostat? Let me know if you need any help.
Best,
Mark

Great news, thank you! Quick question: I used the AAA batteries included with my Nest and I got a low battery warning within just a couple weeks of installing the system. Is that normal?

Hello there,
To be sure, please gather your thermostat's Power information and its Wiring information in the Equipment settings.
Keep me posted.
