Connecting a Thermostat E to my Apple phone

Have purchased a Thermostat E. Have downloaded the app & tried to connect to the thermostat but it’s just not responding & keeps saying error, retry. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Having the same issue with the Smart Thermostat.

Resetting my Nest, deleting the Home, nothing works.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community and sorry for the delay here. Let's take a closer look into this.

A few questions — at what part of the setup process are you getting this message? Are you getting a specific code by any chance? If yes, what is it? Also, have you tried making use of another mobile device if the issue persists? If not yet, please give that a shot then let me know how it goes.

Best,

Melba

Thanks.

Message comes at the part of trying to connect app, after already installed.

I’ve gotten a variety of error codes such as m21 to TD004.

I’ve reset the device, factory reset, created new wifi networks, nothing.

Appreciate your help.

Hi there,

Gotcha — thanks for these added details.

TD004 error can occur when your thermostat goes to sleep before you finish adding it to your account in the Nest app. Could you try the following troubleshooting steps below one more time?

  1. On the thermostat screen, select Learn more and then Reset device.
Note: This will not reset your device to factory defaults. This will only reset your account info on the thermostat.

  2. Once your thermostat is done restarting, resume setup in the Nest app.
Tip: To keep your thermostat awake while you add it to your account, press the screen every 20 seconds.

If you ever get the m21 or m22 code again, go through the suggested steps here: https://bit.ly/3yQaSFO?

Keep me posted.

Best,

Melba
