Connecting to Wi-Fi

Trying to connect to Wi-Fi with a new thermostat. The thermostat is not located at our primary home. Set up in the app tells me I need to be close to my doorbell camera in order to finish set up, but that is in a different city. When trying to complete set up from my home, it tells me I need to be next to the thermostat. What do I do?

Hi Bmill5,

Sorry to hear about your experience and for the delayed response but thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community.

Just to confirm, when setting up your Nest thermostat, it is attempting to use your Nest Doorbell as an assisting device, right? Are you getting a specific message or a code on your Google Home or Nest app? If yes, what is it? Also, could you provide a rundown of the steps that you've already tried so we can pick up from there?

Best,

Melba
