Controlling 2 heat sources?

Canstacker
Community Member

Greetings,

Can my 3rd generation thermostat control radiant floor and force air heat simultaneously? Thermostat is located on the main level and has both heat sources. Main heat source would be radiant and supplemented with forced air or vice versa. Current set up is nest thermostat controlling forced air and separate older radiant floor controller adjacent to the nest thermostat. Can I combine all to the Nest and independently control each heat source or do I need a second best thermostat?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Canstacker,

Thank you so much for posting in this community. I understand that you want to know if your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen can control radiant floor and forced air heat simultaneously. So no worries; I’m here to provide you more information.

Forced-air heating systems and radiant floor heating cannot be directly controlled by a single Nest thermostat. The reason is that these systems often require different wiring configurations.

Best regards,

Daniel
