Controlling fan on old wood furnace

So I have a really old wood furnace that heats my garage and the apartment above it. I currently have a switch (not smart) to turn the blower on and off. I'm looking for a solution to make this smart. I want to be able to have the blower turn on/off at a certain temperature in the apartment. I'm not sure if a smart thermostat can be hooked up to a blower only?  Should I just use a smart switch and a smart thermometer? Any advice would be appreciated.
