DISABLE ECO MODE

Sp07

Eco mode is the most asinine feature that WILL NOT GO AWAY. I have spent hours on the phone with google “support” on several different occasions, disabled and changed every possible setting that would lead to eco mode kicking on, and this little **bleep** setting still prevails. Not to mention this is NOT ENERGY EFFICIENT. Letting my house get up to high 70s in the Texas summers is NOT saving energy, it is a massive energy suck on the back end.
It is INSANE that I have tried every which way imaginable to disable this (which I see others are in the same boat) and no one in this useless company can give accurate instructions on how to stop this from happening. IT IS MY THERMOSTAT, I SET THE F*CKING TEMPERATURES FOR A REASON.

I have the same issue!! Wish someone would respond with other options to disable ECO mode. I have turned OFF ECO mode manually at the thermostat but STILL comes back on. HELP

Try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Nest app.
  2. Select your thermostat.
  3. Select the Mode option in the lower left and set the mode to Heat/Cool.
  4. Select the Eco option in the lower center and end Eco Temperatures on all thermostats.

If you also want to stop it adjusting based on home/away assist and the auto-schedule features, select the Gear icon in the upper right and turn off the Home/Away Assist and Auto-Schedule options.

This is not an option. I can’t use the nest app. When I try to connect my thermostat to the nest app, it tells me I have to use the google home app, which does not have the option anywhere to disable eco mode. Which is INSANE.
I have also always had every home/away automation disabled. It does not help.

If you setup the thermostat in the Google Home app, you have Nest Thermostat (2020) or Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). In that case, the workaround I know of is to make use of the temperature hold feature. Once set, it will maintain that specific temperature for as long as you want, ignoring the schedule, or automatic temperature changes that could be caused by presence sensing or routines.

I appreciate the workaround suggestion. While that might help, that defeats the purpose of being able to utilize the schedule feature. I set schedules for a reason, and it’s a pain to have to either manually adjust it to hold, or manually adjust it off of Eco mode whenever that decides to kick in.

I cannot believe a product like this is going to force this awful feature onto its users with zero solution. I’m grasping at straws here trying to get someone from product support to give an actual resolution.

@Sp07 , if you disable in settings, the home and away feature, it won’t go into ECO mode

This does not work. I have all home/away features disabled and it continues to kick on Eco mode. Under “activity” it will show that it kicked it on because no one is home. I have no clue why or how it’s getting that trigger because I’m home the entire time.

@Sp07 ,

I am sorry this happening to you I am going to escalate this to see if one of the Google Community Specialists can deduce the cause.

I have the same issue with the same frustration.  All the answers seem to be related to using the Nest app, which isn't an option, or refer to settings in the Google home app that don't exist.  I hope you get a real workable answer here

The only solution is to get rid of the **bleep**ty nest thermostat and buy something that has a simple "on/off" for such a "feature".

I'm starting to realize that's the case here. I just want someone with their support team to finally admit that their device entirely forces this feature on you and there's no way to disable it. Instead, they keep sending me a runaround set of instructions that don't work, or insist I enable home/away features so it can force the setting to run when I'm gone. This has been such a massive waste of my time and money trying to control a device in my own f*cking home.

cannot get ECO to go away!!

CONCLUSION: After months of burning frustration, I've come to the realization that the only solution is to smash this device on the driveway and purchase another thermostat (one that allows me to control the settings and temperature schedule - what a concept?!). F*ck this overpriced piece of garbage, and google support can go to h*ll for constantly giving me a useless song and dance in their failed front to make me think this was actually a feature I could disable.

Maybe Prime day will have some deals on a different brand of thermostat.

Cheers.

I was having the same issue. I recently found a setting in the Google Home app that may help. It was under the automations tab at the bottom. There was a routine set for my thermostat when it sensed I was away. I just deleted it and disabled all automatic routines.
