Dead Nest

I have 2 thermostat.  Downstairs got hot, checked and it says no power.  It has been hooked up for years, now suddenly no power.  Checked breakers.  Pulled power wire out and put it back.  No help.  Switched it with upstairs nest thermostat.  It works upstairs, the one I brought down does not.  Same errors.  What do you think the problem is?
