I have a Dual Fuel heat pump system with a Lennox gas heater. The system shows Stage 2 heat when the temperature is more than three degrees from actual to desired. The Auxiliary Heat (gas) comes on when the outside temperature is at or below 38F, but it never goes to Stage 2 while on the Auxiliary Heat.
Does the Nest Gen 3 have two stage blower for Auxiliary Heat? If so, could this be a wiring issue? Below is a picture of the current wiring of my Nest Gen 3thermostat on the right. The picture on the left is from the Pro Installation guide. Any suggestions before I start changing the wiring?

Hi txrdhog,
Uh-oh! The Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation does support two-stage heating and cooling systems, including dual fuel systems with auxiliary heat. If your system has a two-stage blower for auxiliary heat, the Nest thermostat should be capable of controlling it.
Regarding the wiring, it's essential to ensure that the thermostat is correctly wired to your HVAC system to enable all the features and functionalities. If you're experiencing issues with your system not going to Stage 2 while on the auxiliary heat, it could indeed be a wiring issue. To confirm the wiring, you may check your control board the check the other end of the thermostat wires connected to it.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Zoe
