Hello! Who’d like to confirm compatibility with my system. I have a dual fuel system with a heat pump. Please see attached image. Current Tstat has OAT and SRTN wires that I am unsure about.

After digging, I understand the OAT = outside air temp and SRTN = return.

Since this is a dual fuel system, I am curious how to wire the O/W2/B and Y/Y2

Hi  Ryan14

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community forum. We'd be happy to take a look into this for you. Based on the photo you sent to us, we can wire this to the Nest Thermostat, but we need more information. Please answer the following:

  1. Are you from North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have or planning to have?
  3. What is the make and model of your HVAC?

I look forward to your response.

Best,
Renz

Hello Ryan14,

Thanks for getting back to us. I've checked the HVAC make and model and the wiring you sent to us. It is compatible with the Nest Thermostat but you will need to have a trained professional set up your thermostat. It’s important for a professional to assess the requirements for your specific dual fuel configuration since choosing incorrect options for a dual fuel system can result in damage to your system. Contact a local HVAC professional.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Renz
