E298 error after unit has worked for months

I successfully setup my NEST months ago and had no issues until today where I am getting an E298 no power issue.  When I check the connections in the settings, I get undetected wires Y,W,G,R which is every wire.  I shut off the furnace and removed the nest and no wires have popped out.  Turned the furnace back on and issue is still there.  Please help me troubleshoot.

Hi Ron2023,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check if you are still in need of any help. If so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the breaker box and check if the breakers flipped then check if the code no longer shows on the display and the Google Home app confirms that the thermostat is online.
  2. If you used AC recently, check your system’s drip pan or drain tubes.
  3. Check the condition of the HVAC fuse.
  4. Check your air filter.
  5. Gather the power readouts of VIN, IIN, PS-* from the thermostat. Go to Settings > Equipment > Power Info.
  6. Make sure the thermostat wires are properly stripped and seated in the thermostat base.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
