I'm new to Nest and am concerned with the operation of eco mode. It is the winter season and I have my thermostat set to heat mode. Eco activates when I leave the house, which is good and the intent of why I purchased this thermostat. When this happens, it appears as if the mode gets changed to auto, whereby there is a low and high set point shown on the thermostat. I don't want cooling to activate at all during the winter, as it will ruin the compressor. I am shocked at this happening, as the mode I selected was heat (only).
Why does eco mode put my thermostat into auto mode?
