Eco mode start/stop all MIA

davenestgen1

I have two nest thermostats in my house. Recently I replaced a dead gen 1 nest thermostat with a new gen 3 thermostat. I still have the other gen 1 installed and working. Much to my surprise, eco mode start/stop all using either of the two thermostats to activate eco mode is no longer available. With two gen 1 thermostats this functionality existed at both thermostats, and I can still start/stop all using the web and app so this functionality still exists.

Today, Google support confirmed this functionality is no longer available with the gen 3 thermostats at the thermostats themselves. This option is not visible any longer on my gen 1 thermostat. They also confirmed two gen 3 thermostats will not offer this functionality.

In my opinion this defeats a purpose of connected thermostats. Yes I can still do it with the app and web, but using the thermostats themselves is fast and easy and it used to work with the original Nest hardware. I can't understand why Google would take away this functionality on newer hardware.

Has anyone else experienced this frustrating change? Does anyone else feel this is a poor decision by Google to remove this functionality?

Hi davenestgen1,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community.

There are some features that may not be available to work with the older devices. We'll take this as feedback to improve our product and services.

Again, thank you for bringing this up to us and rest assured that we are looking into this.

Regards,

Ryan

Hi there,

We hear you, davenestgen1. We're sorry for the inconvenience. I understand how frustrating this can be that the "Start all" and "Stop all" options on the Eco settings are no longer showing in the Nest thermostats. We're always looking for ways to improve our products and we appreciate your feedback.

In the meantime, you can adjust the eco settings individually on your thermostats or on the Nest app. So, please let our product team know about it by sending us feedback.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Best regards,

Mark
