Electric bill outrageous surge after Nest

This is by far the worst thermostat and furthermore the customer service is not good. I got my nest installed in june and was away for 3 weeks so the july bill was higher for a empty house but ai didn’t pay attention. Yesterday i got a bill for 587.34 which is 3 times my actual bill before test.

I immediately called a professional havac specialist and we saw the indoor temperature that nest reads is incorrect. Example it say its 78 inside but it’s actually 73. So even if I have my temp set at 73 it keeps running. This is the reason i got such a high bill. I have been trying to get any support from nest team but its just not working. I am down 1000 500 for two nest devices and the electricity bill.
All the issues i am facing is because of a faulty device and I wont be the one deal with the consequences of a bad device.

Hi Mirza10,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.

For your thermostat with an incorrect ambient temperature and/or humidity readout, do the following steps first:

  1. Go to Settings > Technical Info > Power.
  2. Check for the Signal strength value. The signal strength has a maximum value of 100. A signal strength
of 75 is considered strong, while a value of 36 or lower is considered
    weak.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. My sincere apologies for the instructions I gave. Revising what I mentioned above, kindly check the signal strength value on your thermostat under Settings > Technical Info > Network instead of Power. The signal strength has a maximum value of 100. A signal strength of 75 is considered strong, while a value of 36 or lower is considered weak.

Zoe

So i called the technician and saw the nest had incorrect temperature readings which caused the ac to run for longer times. I have a case opened with nest and nest asked me to return the device from where I bought. My return window has expired and neither amazon nor Best Buy taking it back.

I don’t just need a refund i need compensation for the electric bill that was surged due to nest.

the product is faulty and the nest customer service is even worse.
