Error code E105 keeps recurring

Every summer when I try a get my AC going I keep getting an E105 error code. I mess with the Y wire and it goes away till next year, I've even tied the Y1 wire to different ground connections.

What do I have to do, run a separate ground wire to the AC unit itself?

I'm stumped.

Hi g1956j,

I'm sorry to hear about the situation, and thanks for reaching out. No worries, we'll check this out.

The E105 error means an overcurrent on the Y1 wire. Over time, system components wear down, and with age can come fluctuations in voltage and tolerance. This could cause an incompatibility where there wasn’t one before. If this happens and you have had the Nest Thermostat for a long time, you have to contact a service technician or Nest Pro to service your system and have the Y1 properly grounded again.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
