Fan mode in nest thermostat

Fan won’t stay on unless thermostat is in cooling or heating mode.  Manual says if wire missing from g connector the fan won’t stay on and continuous fan mode unavailable. Also says that you can’t even access fan mode and set it for specific time when that wire is missing. Well, we are able to set the fan to specific time and turn it on but it only last for a couple of minutes and then the heating and cooling system comes on.   Why

Luckie here   When starting conversation I chose IOS not knowing what it meant.  Never owned a computer or even had a cup of coffee in my 65 years.  Truth.  Anyway; don’t know what other choices mean either.  Do know phone is Samsung.  This was typed on an iPad.  See responses but can’t access. Will keep trying.  Owner of nest thermostat looking for manual.  Will be taking device apart and check wiring. Perhaps that will explain.  Thank all
