Fan schedule does not work.

Rico3

Hi there,

I’ve read all the posts out there and could not find one with a resolution.  More people have the same issues I am having.

My fan schedule simply won’t work.  I have 3 Nests and neither of them work.

I can start the fan from the Home App, and from the Nests themselves, but the schedule just won’t kick in for 30 min every hour as set up. It just won’t even start. I have to manually turn them on.

What am I doing wrong?

The Nests are on Cool mode.
They all have a Common Wire.
Away is not set up.

Thank you

Rico Castro

Hi Rico3,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? You can visit this link to check what type of thermostat you have. Aside with your fan schedule, do you also have a temperature schedule set on your thermostat? If yes, is it working just fine or is it doing the same thing? Has your fan schedule worked before?

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi Jenelyn, thanks for your time and replying.

I have the Nest Thermostats.

Miraculously, one of them started working overnight.  It now runs the fan every hour for 30 minutes - as scheduled.  The other one is still not working.

Yes, I have temperature schedules running on all of them and they all work fine.  I have AC and heat forced air, and floor radiant heat as well - they all work.

The fan can be started manually from the Home App.

I never had a Fan Schedule before.

Thank you and warm regards

Rico

Hi there,

Thanks for the update. Did you notice if your thermostat's temperature mode switched to off during the course of the fan schedule? If the thermostat is set to off, the fan will not operate. Also, could you please provide your thermostat power readout by going to your actual thermostat settings then equipment and power info?

Regards,

Jenelyn

Hi there.

I could swear I answered your questions a couple of days ago.  Please don't close the thread, the item has NOT been resolved.

Answering the Jenelyn's questions below:

1. Did you notice if your thermostat's temperature mode switched to off during the course of the fan schedule?

A: No.  They did not switch to off.  They are all and have been in COOL mode.

2. If the thermostat is set to off, the fan will not operate.

A: They are all in COOL mode.

3.Also, could you please provide your thermostat power readout by going to your actual thermostat settings then equipment and power info?

A: All of them read approx 36.7, as well as the one which the Fan Schedule works.

Thank you.

Hi Rico3,

We appreciate your update. Could you confirm if you're doing the same steps from the instructions below:

Turn your fan on manually

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile. Note: Make sure that your thermostat is turned on.
  3. Tap Fan, then Set fan timer.
  4. Choose how long you'd like your fan to run.
  5. Tap Start to run your fan or Cancel.
  6. Your fan will turn off automatically after the time you've selected, or you can turn it off early by selecting Set fan to Auto from the fan menu.

Set a daily fan schedule

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Select Schedules> Fan.
  5.  Switch Run every day on if you want to set the same fan schedule for all days. Set it to off if you want a unique schedule for a particular day.
  6. Choose a start and end time with From and To.
  7. Set how long you'd like to run your fan per hour. You can choose 15, 30, 45 minutes of run time, or select 60 minutes to run your fan for the whole hour.

Your fan will turn on automatically each day for the time and duration you've selected. You can always edit or disable your schedule at any time from the fan menu.

Hit this link for more information and let us know your update here.

Thank you, Emerson.

That's exactly what I am doing, with no success.

The fan just won't follow the fan schedule.   And I do have a wire in the G connector and I can turn the fan on/off from the App.

I researched other forums, and the people with the same problem could not find a solution.

They usually give up or change their device.  This is so frustrating.  What else can be done?

I appreciate your help and your time.

Warm regards,

Ricardo
