Is your thermostat still connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or tablet? If so:

Open the Nest app.
Select the Nest thermostat that has the PIN you want to change.
Select Settings cog icon Unlock.
Once your Nest thermostat has been unlocked, you can select Lock in the Nest thermostat settings to lock it again and set a new PIN.

Hey folks,

Way to go @David_K. Thanks for your help.

Also, I just wanted to follow up and see if anyone is still in need of help? Please let me know, as I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best regards,

Ryan

You are talking about the phone app? When I go there it does not offer a 4 digit code.  The app does not offer a settings tab.

Hey folks,

If you're referring to the PIN of your thermostat, you can open the Google Home app, tap the name of your Nest thermostat > Settings. Tap Unlock > confirm that you want to unlock your thermostat.

Check out this link for additional help.

Thanks,

Archie

Hi guys , I've got a Nest Thermostat and I've forgotten the four digit PIN to unlock it.

The thermostat is no longer on the Nest APP, although it is connected to the WI-FI network

I can't add the thermostat without an entry key, which is not available as the NEST is locked

How can add/reset or get the thermostat unlocked?

thanks Joe

Try these steps:

  1. Connect the Nest Thermostat display via USB to a computer.

  2. Verify that the Nest Thermostat mounts (appears as an attached drive icon).
  • If the Nest drive will not mount: Restart the thermostat and the computer.
  • If the Nest drive still won't mount: Connect another device to the cable to see if it appears as an installed device.
  • If it doesn't appear, use a different cable/port/computer.

If the Nest drive is successfully showing up on your computer, can you see a technicalinfo.PLIST file?

HI David

Appreciate the response

I have successfully attached the NEST device to my Imac and located the technicalinfo.PLIST which contains the following

That's good. I've asked a community specialist to takeover from here as the rest of the steps can't be shared publicly in the community.

Hi David

Appreciate the effort, thank you
