Fresh Air Ventilation

I just built my home and the new HVAC systems do not have a separate controller for fresh air ventilation they rely upon the thermostat control. I replaced my thermostat with a nest not realizing apparently there is no way to control the fresh air ventilation with nest thermostats. Is that correct?

Hi tsilkwood,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this. Could you share the make and model of your previous thermostat and how it's wired?

Thanks,

Edward

Hi tsilkwood,

It's me again. I wanted to check back in to see if you have other questions and concerns. Feel free to let me know if you do.

Thanks,

Hi Edward,

Sorry for the delayed response. The Honeywell thermostat model I had was TH6320ZW2003. However, it was not WiFi enabled so I installed a Nest Learning Thermostat Model A0013 Item: T3016US. The whole house ventilation system is connected to the HVAC but controlled by the thermostat. There is no options that I can find on the Nest Thermostat to control the ventilation settings.

As far as how it is wired, I'm not sure what you mean. You can only wire it one way for it to work, matching wires with connections per instructions. The Nest Thermostat works, it just doesn't have the additional settings to control the ventilation system. The inspector said he thought Nest had addressed/fixed this problem with the later model thermostats?

Well considering you basically said "can't help ya", I guess you can close the subject. I was told Google was updating (or had in the latest version) updated the nest thermostat that would allow you to control your whole home ventilation system (that is attached to the HVAC by the way). So either that is not true, or you need to hit response quota and have no idea what I'm talking about!
