Furnace continues to heat once desired temperature is reached!

I installed a Nest Learning thermostat about a month ago.  I love it, but we’ve had intermittent issues with the furnace not turning off once the desired temperature is reached.

it will get very warm in the house when this happens, and lowering the desired temperature doesn’t do anything.  We either have to turn the thermostat off, or go down to our basement and shut the power to the furnace off.

has anyone else experienced this?  I’d really like to figure this out, because it cannot continue like this!

unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of how the previous thermostat was wired.

any help is much appreciated!  I submitted a help ticket 2 weeks ago, but have not received a response yet, so I’m hoping someone in here might be able to assist!

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Nest Learning thermostat. It's frustrating when the furnace doesn't turn off as expected, leading to discomfort in your home. Here are some general suggestions that might help you troubleshoot the problem.

  1. It's crucial to ensure that the Nest Thermostat is correctly wired. Make sure that the wires are securely connected to the corresponding terminals on the thermostat base. You might want to double-check the compatibility of your HVAC system with the Nest Thermostat as well.
  2. Try performing a reset on your thermostat. This can often resolve minor glitches.
  3. I understand that you've already submitted a help ticket, but if you haven't received a response, can you share with us your support ID numbers?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
