Furnace not firing up after nest power adapter installed

Hello all!

Just finally got around to installing the nest power connector  to my furnace. After proper install the furnace tries to boot up 3-4 times then just gives up. Never lights and the fan never kicks on. After removing the power connector everything works fine again? Any ideas. I attached a picture of my wiring, I had extra wires on top of what was mentioned in the installation video that I watched.

@Mikeman101433

Your picture is too small and out of focus.

How did you wire the Google Nest Power adapter?

Is there anyway I can post the pic again? I couldn’t post it cause it was too large so I clicked small and apparently it came out bad. This is the video I followed to install the adapter.

Sounds like it's time to call the HVAC man. It sounds like you're guessing on the wiring. Usually this happens when a furnace has an older/newer wiring setup, which it sounds like you have hence the adapter.

Hey Mikeman101433,

Thanks for the helpful replies Patrick_Caezza, and thisisausername.

Apologies for the delayed reply. I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Hey Jake yes I still need help!

I reverted all of my wiring and everything is back to normal but I still have the dreaded “low power warning on the nest” I wired the nest power adapter correctly but resulted in fan not kicking on. Furnace was firing up just not turning the fan on. I messed with the settings in the app with the fan turn on with furnace mode still nothing

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the delay. I know it's been a while now. I want to take a closer look at your case. Could you please provide the exact message and code you keep receiving on your Nest Thermostat? Also, please share with us your thermostat power info by going to Settings then Equipment.

I appreciate your help, @thisisausername, @Patrick_Caezza, and Jake.

Thanks,

Jenelyn

So when I installed the nest power connector, the low power error was gone but when my heat kicked on the fan never did it just kept trying to boot up then the pilot light would keep shutting down. When I uninstalled the power connector everything went back to normal.

Hey Mikeman101433,

Thanks for the follow up. I'm glad to hear that it went back to normal, but I want you to monitor it still to ensure if it'll constantly work. Please feel free to create a new thread if anything comes up, as we'll be willing to assist you from there. Otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Jenelyn
