Google Home App not Recognizing Correct Thermostat Model

Hi - my generation 3 thermostat is installed and connected to the Nest App.  I want to be able to operate it via Alexa so I'm trying to set up the thermostat in the Google Home app.  I input the codes but then the app tells me I must install a Nest Power Connector.  I should not need to install one as I have a green wire to use as the common wire.  How do I get around this so I can continue set-up in the Home App?

Hi angelnick,

Thanks for reaching out. If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen, you can only set it up via the Nest app. Please try signing in the Google Home app and see if your thermostat is visible there.

Can you try the steps in this guide:

  1. Go to the Google Home app.
  2. Select your thermostat.
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Tap Services and then Partner Connections .
  5. Tap Amazon Alexa.
  6. Turn on permissions for your new device.
  7. Say "Alexa, discover my devices."

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Jenelyn
