Model: Thermostat-1.4. already tried a reset and factory reset. System is up to date.
Home app connects to nest but neither the schedule or presets input through the Home app push to the Nest. In other words, I can change the temperature in the app and it doesn’t change on the Nest. In fact, after 5-10 seconds, the Nest “overrides” the app and I can watch the set temp in the Home app revert back to match the Nest.
Cooling works but the only way to change the temperature is manually on the Nest itself.
any ideas?

No luck - I can still connect to the thermostat, but changes made in the app don’t change on the Nest. Changes made on the nest do show up in the app, however. Any other ideas? Is this a warranty issue? Frankly, not being able to use a schedule eliminates most the benefit of the Nest.
