Google Home app won’t control nest thermostat

Model: Thermostat-1.4. already tried a reset and factory reset.  System is up to date. 

 

Home app connects to nest but neither the schedule or presets input through the Home app push to the Nest.  In other words, I can change the temperature in the app and it doesn’t change on the Nest.  In fact, after 5-10 seconds, the Nest “overrides” the app and I can watch the set temp in the Home app revert back to match the Nest.

Cooling works but the only way to change the temperature is manually on the Nest itself.  

any ideas?

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear about this situation with the Nest Thermostat remote control. No worries, I'm here to help! Let's try some troubleshooting steps that might fix the connection:

 

  1. Remove the Nest Thermostat from your Google Home App
  2. Perform a Factory Reset on your Nest Thermostat
  3. Uninstall the Google Home App from your phone
  4. Restart your phone
  5. Install the Google Home App
  6. Set up the thermostat again.

If these steps don't work:

 

  1. Remove the Nest Thermostat from your Google Home App
  2. Perform a Factory Reset on your Nest Thermostat
  3. Create a new Home Structure in the Google Home App
  4. Set up the thermostat in the new Home Structure

Please give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Hello.  I tried both.  Unfortunately the issue remains — no change.  Any other ideas?

No luck - I can still connect to the thermostat, but changes made in the app don’t change on the Nest.  Changes made on the nest do show up in the app, however.  Any other ideas?  Is this a warranty issue?  Frankly, not being able to use a schedule eliminates most the benefit of the Nest.
