I am looking at the Google Nest Learning Thermostat and am not sure if it is what I want/need. I have a 2 zone home (upstairs and downstairs) that is currently controlled by a control panel in the utility room. This panel controls the heating and water in respect of scheduling on/off times daily/weekly. I have a thermostat downstairs and one upstairs.
I currently find myself not at home as often so I set the control panel heating to OFF and leave the water on its schedule. I would like to be able to remotely turn on the heating so that I can have the house nice and warm for when I get in rather than watin until I get in and manually turning it on, waiting an half an hour before its at a comfortable temperature.
So my questions are:-
Is the Google Nest Learning Thermostat what I need?
How does it remotely turn the heating on/off (can it even do that)?
What setting to I then have my main control panel set to (permanently ON)?
Any help would be very much appreciated to understand the compatibility to my home.
