Google Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen schedule

I got this learning nest thermostat 3rd gen and cannot figure out how to set the schedule 30 minutes apart instead of 60 minutes. It seems to only allow 60 minutes apart and that keeps my house cold some times because it takes an hour to kick the heat back on. Wonder if there's a workaround for this issue. Please help me out. Otherwise I love the thermostat it's premium quality and love everything else about it. I work from home and would like the temperatures to not drop below uncomfortable levels which it does now for some reason. I do have the learning feature set to ON if it helps narrow it down.

Hello intramorph,

It's great to hear that you're enjoying your Nest Thermostat, but I understand the frustration with the scheduling issue. It's indeed crucial to have a comfortable temperature, especially when working from home.

To address the 60-minute interval limitation, you might want to try creating two separate temperature settings within that 60-minute window. For example, if you want the heat to kick in sooner than the default 60-minute gap, you could set one temperature for the current time and another for 30 minutes later.

Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Open the Nest app and go to the thermostat settings.
  2. Select the "Schedule" option.
  3. Navigate to the time slot where you want the heat to start earlier (e.g., the current time).
  4. Set the desired temperature for that time slot.
  5. Scroll to the next time slot (30 minutes later) and set the temperature you want at that time.

This way, you'll have two consecutive time slots with different temperatures, effectively achieving a 30-minute interval. Additionally, make sure your learning feature is turned on, as it can adapt to your preferences over time. If the issue persists, restart your thermostat after making any changes.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
Mark
