Google Nest Thermostat Power requirement

Hello,

I'm interesting to purchase the Google Nest Thermostat but am stumbled by the power requirement.

My existing system (out of the wall) has two wires, controls the heater only. Can I use the Nest Thermostat? Do I need the "Nest Power Connector"? Can I use the battery power only?

Thank you!

Hi laserdad17,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and for showing interest with our Nest Thermostat. To better check for your system's compatibility with our Nest Thermostats, please send us a wiring photo of your current thermostat wires and a photo of your HVAC's control board where the other end of your thermostat wires are connected.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi there,

I want to check and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know, as I would be happy to assist and answer any questions you may have.

Thanks,
Zoe

Hello Zoe,

Thank you very much for the response.
My current wiring setup had two conductors in the cable, connected to the thermostat. The other end had a small transformer.
It is not feasible to run a new multiconductor cable through the wall without open up the sheetrocks.
Hope this description is enough to show the situation.

Best regards.
Leonard

Hey there,

@laserdad17, I'm sorry for the delay. I know it's been a while already. I'd like to take a closer look at it. For much better understanding on how your system works, could you please take a photo of the wires connected to your system's control board?

To send a photo, click this link then scroll down to your response and hit reply. Check for the camera icon or click the three horizontal dots to expand the toolbar. From there, you'll be able to reply and share a photo.

Also, please provide your system's make and model.

I appreciate your input, Zoe.

Regards,

Jenelyn
