Google Nest Thermostat Snow work with AA battery or must have 24 VAC power

You can not run a Nest thermostat directly off of a Millvote system, but you can if you use an external 24VAC transformer and a simple relay.

 

This is one way to do it.

It depends on the wiring and how the system is set up.

If you use the compatibility checker it will tell you if you need a C wire or not.

Personally, Just use the Nest Power Connector if you don't have a C wire and don't have a spare wire to make one.

My in-floor house GAS Heater is TWO millivolt wires to Two AA batteries powered programmable thermostat.  Will the Nest work without 24 VAC C wire?   Or is 24 VAC C wire also the POWER to the NEST?  I see Two AA batteries of to the side, are these for backup power only?

The batteries are primarily for backup power purposes.
