Google Nest Thermostat

My thermostat has a red, white, blue and green wire and there is no yellow wire. How do I set up cooling? The heat works, but a cooling option doesn't appear on the screen.

Hi JMDD

1.  Do you know which version of the thermostat you have?

2.  Forgive me for asking concerning the cooling, do you have central AC at your house?

I have this same issue. My HVAC (which has a furnace and central air conditioning) only has 4 wires: red, green, white, and blue. No additional wire to connect to Y so I don’t currently have Cooling Mode. Please advise! It’s getting very warm inside

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation.

Bumping the question from TranquilaGCB, what type of Nest thermostat do you have? Do you have central AC at your house? Also, did your previous thermostat control AC prior to switching to Nest? If not, then we highly recommend you contact your local HVAC technician to add an AC wire from your HVAC control board to the Nest Thermostat base.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

I appreciate your help, @TranquilaGCB

Best,

Zoe

I was able to figure it out. The wire in the C terminal was for my AC, so I put it in the Y terminal but now Nest is running on battery (because my HVAC only has 4 wires). I bought a Nest Power Connector to fix this issue but I haven’t installed it yet.
