I don’t understand why I can change temperature and set up schedules by tapping “thermostat” and also “master bedroom nest” What is the difference?  At first it appeared it didn’t matter- that changes in one would would reflect in both, but I’ve noticed it’s not now. I’ve also turned off auto sensing but it’s still showing home and away. I don’t want to set home or away and don’t want it to learn a routine bc our household pattern varies so much. I just want it to follow the schedules I’ve set up (unless I override of course)

'Thermostat' is the generic device that Home has recognized. 'Master Bedroom Nest' is the name that you gave it when you set it up.  Two names for the same thing.

If you download the Nest app you can turn off Auto Scheduling as well as Home/Away Assist.  You can also turn off the options for 'What determines if You're Home' in the Nest app.
