I live near but not in Austin, Texas.
Nest keeps trying to enroll me in "Nest Aware" with the City of Austin electric utility - Austin Energy.
That can never work!
My electricity is from the Pedernales Electric Coop (PEC) and I do not have any option (or desire) to use Austin.
There should be a way to tell Nest which electric company I use.

OOPS... Not "Nest Aware" that's for the cameras.
Nest RENEW is the program they want me to be in - with the wrong electric utility.

Hello LCBrevard,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries; we'll check this out. Can you check if the zip code on your thermostat or on your Google Nest account is the same zip code as your current address? Here is a link to change the zip code on your Google Nest account.
I look forward to your response.
Best,
Edmond

The Google account has the correct address and ZIP code.
The electricity provider here - which is not something I can change - is the Pedernales Electric Coop.
Nest thinks that Austin Energy is my electricity provider which is true for some parts of this ZIP code.
Note also that this ZIP code includes TWO Texas counties - Williamson for most of it and Travis for the area that I am in.
This is not a BIG deal but it's irritating there is no way to fix it.
Getting all these messages about saving money with Austin Energy is a complete waste of time.

I have the same problem. The Odd side of my street is Silicon Valley Power for Electric, the even side is PG&E electric. Both sides are PG&E Gas, so once again the zip code for my mailbox is NOT the correct thing to use. The only thing San Jose about my home is how it's serviced by USPS. I don't live in a mailbox.

It turns out that if you log in with the same Google ID as the Nest account to https://nestrenew.google.com under Settings, you can set your address AND your Utility company AND the rate structure in use. That is once you are signed up with Nest Renew.
BUT... My electric company only recently switched to optional time-of-day rates and as a mostly retired person who does not go to an office and works almost exclusively at home, there is not really any saving available. And there are no incentive rebates from my provider (of which technically I am a part owner).
I ran the utility's own rate calculator and found I could save all of 74 cents on about $2,700 in annual electric spending by switching to those rates. Never mind!
I canceled out of Nest Renew as well at that point after being chastised by them for not caring about the earth. Yeah, right...
