Hi,
I realize the Nest Thermostat 2020 will not work out of the box with a millivolt heating system (I have this Williams wall heater), but I've seen various articles on the internet that indicate it might work if I:
1. use a plug in 120v -> 24v transformer to supply the power
2. use some type of relay to control the heater
What I'm hoping to find out is can I use the Nest Power Connector as the relay? If yes, what would the wiring diagram look like?
Thanks for any advice!
Steve
thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve,
Sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community.
We highly suggest contacting a local pro for professional help. This is to ensure that you'll get the best help you need and also for you and your HVAC system's safety.

Thanks Melba. Before contacting a pro, can you tell if it's even possible to use the Nest with a millivolt heater? I know the official Nest docs say no, but I've seen mixed articles saying yes and want to confirm before even bothering to contact a pro. Hopefully you Google, being the maker of the Nest, can give a more certain answer.
Thanks!
Steve

Hey there,
Sorry for the delay.
Ideally, the answer is no. Our Nest thermostat is not compatible with any millivolt system as these use much less electricity than low voltage systems and can't deliver the right amount of power to Nest thermostats. However, if a Nest pro or a local HVAC technician could find a way to have it rewired so it would be able to supply the needed power required by our Nest thermostat, you will be good to go.
