Google home app forcing Nest learning thermostat temperature?

Dbalaciano

I have a Nest Learning Thermostat and I use the Home App for it and for many other devices. I noticed that there is a scheduled Temperature setting that doesn't show in my nest app or the learning thermostat menu. It seems that the home app is triggering the scheduled temperature. I see the event in the Google home app activities list, but no sign of that setting in the nest schedule.

Is there a way to see or reset/clear the schedule settings for the Google home app?

Thank you.

Hello Dbalaciano,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.

Could you please check the Auto-schedule in the Nest app or in your actual thermostat's Nest Sense settings and make sure that it's turned off? You can also clear all the schedules by using the thermostat's Reset settings to reset all the defaults. Lastly, in the Google Home app, go to the Routines section and look for any thermostat actions available, and then remove them. This might be a possible reason why it triggers your thermostat to change the temperature randomly.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

Thank you. Yes, I do have auto learning OFF and I did a schedule reset. And I even tried manually scheduling something at the same time to see if I could "Wash out" those two scheduled temperatures and they are still being triggered.
Yesterday I did a full factory reset on the unit. Yesterday they did not triggered, but I'll monitor for a couple of days since last time when I did schedule reset I did work the first day.

Thank you

Hey there,

Great troubleshooting so far, Dbalaciano. Since the Nest Thermostat has been reset to its default setting. This usually helps to fix any issues. In the meantime, continue monitoring it, and if anything comes up, please let me know so I can take a closer look.

Regards,
Mark

Unfortunately, after doing a factory reset on the device and remove it from the home account, I still have these random scheduled events. Learning is OFF since I reconfigured the device and I didn't even changed the temperature since Monday. Still, as you can see below, temperature changed to 76 and then to 75 with 30 minutes difference.

I don't know what else to do. I'm guessing that the HOME app has some schedule that is not showed in the app and I can't reset it.

Hi there,

Interesting. Thanks for keeping me in the loop, Dbalaciano. By any chance, are you enrolled in an Energy Saving Program such as the Rush Hour Rewards or the Nest Renew? Do you notice any indicator or icon showing the Nest Thermostat display or in the app as it was shifted to energy saving?

Best,

Mark

Hi Dbalaciano,

Checking back in — how's it going? Still need our help?

Thanks,

Mark

I've been troubleshooting with Google Support on the phone. They followed all steps and they said I should buy a new unit. It's odd because it's clearly seems a software problem, and not necessarily a problem with the thermostat itself. There was not clear diagnostic, they couldn't identify the problem and told me to purchase a new one. So disappointing.
