Google nest thermostats

Can anyone explain how the temperature preferences work? Like I get it that if I set the heating to 65 the heating will kick in once it gets down to 65 and if I set the cooling to 75 the cooling will turn on once it gets to 75. But what happens in between? Like once it gets down to 65 will my heating turn on and keep on warming up until it reaches 75? Or does it kick on until it gets warmer than 65, so like 66?

Hi GioGarcia,

Thanks for reaching out here at the Google Nest Community.

It’s normal for your home’s temperature to vary slightly (typically one or two degrees) above or below the temperature set on your thermostat for a short while. This is often due to the built-in delay for turning on your system. This delay is commonly called the maintenance band, deadband, differential, or temperature swing.

You can learn more about it here.

Regards,

Ryan
