If it makes you feel any better I ended up buying a brand new Thermostat E as things were taking so long via Google!  I needed a new base but you can’t actually buy parts so I had the privilege of paying £140 for an entire new system.

Good luck!

Usually they offer to charge your card for full price of the Nest, then ship out the item, when they receive your warranty unit they refund the charge.

Did you ask about that option?

Also it is always best to keep your original thermostat to reinstall in an emergency, or you can buy a simple heat only or heat cool thermostat for under 20 bucks at a local store.
