Hi
I have a Nest T3028GB Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Generation. Has worked fine for 18 months but today I am getting an H71 error "Can't connect to Heat Link to control heating. I have looked at the advice on this site for this error but cannot solve the issue.
i) The first recommendation is to restart the Heat Link but that was not effective. I get the same message about an H71 connection failure
ii) The second recommendation is to move the thermostat and test the connection. Assuming the thermostat is the square white box with a big button in the middle, mine is mounted on a wall and it has connected fine for 18 months so I'd prefer to try other options other options first before relocating it. With that in mind, I looked at option c) of the help recommendations which suggests checking the wireless connection in this way: "On your thermostat, go to Settings > Equipment. Then select Continue > Heat Link."
This is where I am confused. My thermostat does not have any display/screen so I dn't understand how I'd choose 'Settings > Equipment' etc.
Perhaps also relevant is that the thermostat does not show any lights at all, and nothing happens when I press the big button in the middle. Is that indicative of a known problem? Possibly just a power failure?

Mine started doing exactly that about two weeks ago. Been working for 18 months in the same position, now it's telling me to move the thermostat closer to the hub. That's definitely not right. After reading so many bad reviews I wish I hadn't bought it and their not cheap.

Hi Phil, the big white box with the button is the heatlink. This controls your heating system. The box should have a small LED light at the top. You say its not controling your heating by using the big button. Check your electrics first. That none of the breakers has tripped. If they are OK, contact Google Support.
