Hi there, I wonder if you can help. I have a 3rd gen nest thermostat. It's about 5 years old. Recently, an error message appears - H72 saying the thermostat has no power. I have charged the thermostat and put it back on the base. It then seems to reset itself and the normal home screen appears. However, after a few minutes, it goes blank. I have done this several times and get the same result.
The heatlink and boiler are both powered up and nothing has changed. Would you be able to help?
Thanks in advance

Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. Does the thermostat stay powered on enough to check a few settings? Can you also tell me if you charged it by connecting a USB cable directly into the thermostat display? How long did you charge it for?

Hi, I wanted to check in. Do you need any further assistance?
If so, make sure to let me know.

Hi Cristian, thanks for the reply and apologies for the delay in getting back. I have charged it using a USB port directly into the thermostat. It does stay on usually for a few minutes so I can check some of the settings - is there anything in particular you wanted to know?

Once you recharged the display separately and place it back go to Settings> Technical info> Power and check all the readings there, you can take a picture of them. Make sure to charge the display separately for at least 90 minutes before placing it back on the base.

Thank you - I will do that and send over pictures

Hi there
I charged the battery overnight and placed it back on the base. I got a message saying 'Your thermostat needs to shut down in order to recharge its battery' Pressed down to say ok and then it went blank. Is it recharging now or is there something wrong? Does the battery need additional charging from the mains or can it function with just separate charging via the USB port?

Hey @Jeevan,
We asked you to charge it off the base with a micro USB cable directly into a power socket so that we can have a look at the power readings. It would be good if you could send us the power readings both when the thermostat is off the base and back on the base. You'll find the power readings in Settings> Tech Info> Power.
