My heatlink has completely died (since last night). The heatlink is completely off, no lights at all. The Nest itself shows an H72 error. I've called the engineer that fitted it about 30 months ago and he said they no longer support Nests and to contact Goole as it sounded like the heat link had completely failed. I've also checked the main fuse box and no issue.

I would suggest you go back to the Installer who supplied, and say.... ''You fitted the Nest you HAVE to either repair or replace''.They certainly would quote they are not supporting them anymore, but tuff they supplied, they are responsible NOT Google. Yes Google has a 2 year warranty, but Consumer law covers you far longer than a Google warranty. Teach the supplier lesson, they can't just fob of a buyer!! Once you go down the Google line, you cannot go back to the retailer, think of that also.
The retailer/installer is responsible for at least 5 years, they have to do something. Agreed it might be a challenge, but quote UK Consumer Law, and look it up yourself.
1. The item has to be Fit for purpose
2. Last for a reasnoble length of time
3 Be of reasonable quality

By the way, this covers you for EVERYTHING you buy from a retailer/installer in the UK
After 30 days, the consumer will not be legally entitled to a full refund if the
good develops a fault. If the consumer is outside the 30-day right to reject
period, they must give the retailer one opportunity to repair or replace any
goods which are of unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as
described. In practice, the retailer can normally choose whichever option
would be cheapest or easier for it to do.

Thank you, that is really helpful to know.

Yes, don't let them get away with their responsibilty to the buyer, the law is on YOUR side. They may ask you to get proof the Heat Link has failed, you say that's fine, BUT obviously as you the retailer/installer, if a fault has been found YOU will not only pay for the repair/replacement, BUT also the cost of the test to the Heat Link I have to pay.
Please remember this covers you for everything you buy new, we are lucky in the UK with this Consumer Law 2015. More people need to be aware of it, and not many people are. Why I just don't know, so any appliance/goods ie. washing machine, TV, Sofa, Bed anything, CL 2015.
