We have one phone (IPhone) successfully connected to the Nest Learning thermostat, but would like a 2nd phone (Android) also connected and cannot find any instructions on how to do this. Surely there is a way to have 2 phones, 2 apps, and 1 Nest thermostat.

Hi JHUPC,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delayed response.
There are two options to do this. First, if you're still the owner of the other mobile device, all you need to do is to login to the Nest app installed on it using the same email address and password you've used to set your Nest thermostat up. However if the other mobile device belongs to another family member or a roommate, you might want to add their own email addresses as members of the house where your thermostat is. Sp what do you do if you have 2 phones using the same gmail account? My wife and I share one so we can both play the same games. When we tried to set up her phone it said it was already done and wouldn't allow it.

Hi MelbaDT,
I keep getting hung up when I try to connect to the thermostats. We have three in the building and I've scanned the QR code for all 3 then typed in the required number but my app can't connect to them. Any help would be appreciated. The original user has added me to the program and I can see it on the NEST app just not the thermostats so I can adjust them as needed. My email is # and my name is Martin

We've followed the above instructions but when I try to connect to the thermostat using the 6 digit code on the back after scanning the QR code my app cannot find the it.

Hi Today,
Thanks for posting here in the Community forum. Could you tell us more about the situation you're in with your app or Nest Thermostat? Are you experiencing the same as above?
I'll look forward to your response.

Did you migrate from nest app originally? Do I need to delete nest and set everything up from scratch on google app?

At this point, I am tired of all the time I am spending and not finding any answers or ways to contact someone for help! I am taking my Nest thermostat back and putting back up my original thermostat. Maybe someday, someone will provide a product with old fashion customer service! A Phone # to start would be a great start and to talk to anyone that is NOT in the Philippines. My wife and I want to access one Nest device from two different phones. How hard can this be!!!

I’m trying to do this too. We don’t share a Google/Gmail account but I’d like to add her to the Nest. Where can I find out how to do this?

My nest used to work on my iPhone and my iPad but when google took over I can no longer see them on my iPad. I can’t find out how put them back the way they were.

Have to ask... Why Lochness? My (former) family Castle sits in ruins on Lochness!

You CANNOT control the nest thermostat on 2 separate iPhones.
11-12-2022 07:35 PM
yes you can. we are currently doing this. on the main screen that shows your nest and other devices click the gear on the upper right then click on family... add who you want. easy peasy.

Thank you for sharing but myself and many others on this forum have done exactly what you and google suggest but it just does not work on the additional IPHONES. Not sure about Android phones but only the original iPhone can control the thermostat. Please provide more specific details other than whats already been described because the Nest Thermostat does not behave the way that has been described. It does not allow the second iPhone to connect.

Hey, I’m new to this. When I set up the google thermostat the first user can see the thermostat, the second user sees all of the things I have changed BUT the thermostat is offline on the second user. Any ideas?

@Luna1968 @Are you using google home or nest app. I’m on nest app and when I do the above, it tells me I need google home. Do I need to delete nest app?

I agree with the last post. I have added my 2nd family member to Google home, I have installed the home app on her android phone, but in her nest app, it asks for the entry key from the thermostat.
When I use the nest thermostat to go settings - "Nest App" - instead of giving me the entry key...other options...other instructions, it just says that the thermostat is already connected to a mobile device. The only option on the thermostat is to click done, without knowing the key.

Tried inviting my wife in the Google Home App so she can also control our Nest Thermostat. Was told she had to have a gmail account, couldn't use her Comcast email... How xxxxxx up is that.

So glad I’m not the only one struggling with this rubbish. I installed Nest app when we moved in and when I went to add my wife, it said I can’t use nest app but have to download google home app … did that, created home and tried again .. said she needed gmail account … created that .. enrolled her in family, added to her to home and still nothing.have refreshed and still nothing
my question is which app should I now use to to control nest … this piece of rubbish tech has terrible support .. typical google

I hope you don't. Having read the comments here, I became concerned that my wife will be unable to control our Nest Learning Thermometer. She's been able to control it for the last year but today not so much. However, now she's reconnected. Here's what I did:
1) Install the Google Home app on my phone (I already had the Nest app installed)
2) Start the app and sign in using the same account as used to control the thermometer
3 ) Follow the instructions on-screen then wait a few moments to let it find our device
4) Click on 'Invite family member' when I was allowed to enter her email address and give her all the control she needs (full control)
5) She installed the Google Home app
6) She started the app and was able to see my invitation. She was asked to give the home a name.
7) She clicked on the little blue Nest icon in the top right which took her to the Nest app which she is able to use again.
Note you will need both the Google Home app (to control your home and give access to devices) and the Nest app (to control the thermostat). Confusingly, the Google Home app is able to display and control the temperature set on the thermometer but it cannot control hot water. For hot water control, the Nest app is needed.
Good luck.

Thanks for this.
Basically we followed a similar path - but after my wife accepted invite on google app, it took 2 days to sync up and then only did Nest app start working for her!!
Its crazy that you need two apps where previously one worked perfectly well.

Same here! I have a Gmail and have sent multiple email invites and nada.
We've had Nest thermostats in many other apartments and never have had a problem inviting users through their app, but now that you have to go through Google, it seems impossible to do now.
Nice to see I'm not the only one, but not nice to find y'all don't have any answers from Google! 😞
