Hi Chakra,
Thank you for posting in the community! I understand your Heat Link isn't working and you're without heating or hot water. I also see you're looking into a replacement. I'll be delighted to assist you.
About your concern for a replacement, please consider that before evaluating it, it is necessary to troubleshoot; take into account that sometimes the device is not defective, and some troubleshooting steps can correct the situation.
To begin the issue investigation, I need your answers to the following questions:
What specific Nest Thermostat model do you have? If in doubt, check the article How to Tell Which Nest Thermostat You Have.
What is the current status light on your Heat Link? (e.g., color, blinking pattern, or is it completely off?)
What error messages or help codes, if any, are displayed on your Nest Thermostat screen or in the Nest app?
When you press the button on the Heat Link, does it click, or does the status light change in any way? Pressing the Heat Link button should manually turn heating/hot water on/off, which can help determine if the relay inside is functioning.
Has there been any recent work done on your heating system or electrical system? (e.g., boiler service, power outage, new wiring?)
How far is your Nest Thermostat display from the Heat Link? Is there anything that could be interfering with the wireless signal (e.g., large metal objects, thick walls, or new Wi-Fi routers)?
Have you recently restarted or factory reset either the Heat Link or the thermostat?
Does your boiler or heating system appear to have power? (e.g., are its own indicator lights on, or is its display working?)
In case there’s power going to the associated HVAC and a restart has not been tried, please press and hold the Heat Link's button for 10 seconds (until the light turns off and then comes back on), release it, and allow the device to restart. For a Nest Thermostat E Heat Link, press or hold for a shorter time until the light changes.
I hope the above steps help, and I look forward to your answer.
Regards,
