Heat Link

Hey, my heat link seems to have died this morning. Looking online it seems to be a very common issue. I need to get this resolved ASAP. What’s best for me to do? We have a toddler and I’d rather try to keep the house warm.

I had same thing happen Christmas Eve just outside two year warranty. All l could do was go and spend £189 on replacement heatlink and thermostat. take a photo of where all the wires connect in the old one before it's removed.  so you can see how to connect sires to new heat link.  I have a vaillant boiler and there seemed no obvious way of overiding the heatlink once it had packed up completely so felt l had no choice but to get new nest.  If it was summer, l would've looked for a replacement for nest, as packing up after just 2/3 years is poor reliability considering the cost of them.

I get the impression that there was a major issue in general....looking around there seem to be a lot of posts at the back end of last year re failed heatlinks.

Regarding the heatlinks:

Nest advised that mine was 4 months out of warranty

They would still cover it

Would provide £30 to cover a switch/cheap thermostat and £100 to cover installation (invoice required)

Would dispatch a new heatlink (which has been dispatched) and provide £100 towards installation (invoice required).

So far so good, we will see. Though tbh I'm really disappointed in nest, it seems to have stagnated across the board. I keep looking at ecobee...I want temp sensors and other accessories that nest just don't do in the uk and even the ones in the US are crap.

Hi there,

I'm happy to hear that a replacement is coming your way. If you need anything else, let me know. I'm happy to help.

Thanks. The replacement heatlink is here. The nest pro will be here today to fit it then will invoice me, so let’s see how easy it is to claim that back.

Question, are there any nest compatible thermometers out in the uk?

Thermometers as in temperature sensors? Those are not available for the UK version of the thermostat. However, you can buy a stand for it and move it to any room you'd like. Keep me posted.

Yeah, the idea is to understand temps in each room and then feedback into nest - not keep moving my stat.

Hey @Robertus85,

We see your point, but for now the stand is the only alternative for the US sensors. However, I'll pass your feedback on to be taken into consideration as we're always looking for ways to improve. You can follow us on our Social Media channels for news and updates.

Thanks for clarifying. I will go ahead and reply there to it, sorry it has taken so long.

The claim is not easy!  They require a very specific and very complex format for the invoice from your engineer.  My engineer refused and I could not claim. Now a second unit in another property has failed in exactly the same way!  (see recent post) My advice--don't buy NEST products!
