Heat being sent to both zones when called from one zone

Hi Community-

I have a two zone nest system. One in the master bedroom and one for the rest of the house- nest v3 in each zone. I have had this set up for almost 5 years never an issue. Recently I noticed that when I call for heat in the master bedroom, heat pumps through the supplies in the rest of the house and goes past the desired temperature there, even if that zone is completely off. When I call for heat in the rest of the house and the master is turned off, it works as normal. It’s almost as if the damper for the zone controlling the rest of the house just stopped working.
I’m not sure if this is a mechanical issue (faulty damper) an electrical issue (control board issue) or a thermostat issue (needs restarting or updating). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sfn5,

Thanks for checking it with us. I'd like to take a closer look at it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostats you are using for your two zones? In what country are you located? Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or in the app? Check your thermostat's Energy History, as it will help you see what your thermostat is doing previously.

Best,

Hi Jenn-  we solved the problem. Turns out the dampers failed. How’d a relatively new damper fail is beyond me. Once we replaced the dampers everything worked as it should.
