Heat cycles on for a minute to two before the AC starts.

Just installed a Nest programable thermostat in our Florida home. Air conditioner blows heat for two minutes when thermostat calls for cooling. We have a heat pump system. Anyone have an idea as to why?

Sounds like your heat strips are running with the air conditioner.  There may be a 5 minute delay on compressor and you are feeling heat.during that time. Just a theory. Wiring issue if this happened after stat installed. What color on each terminal and what brand of heat pump?
