Heat link connecting problem

RodneyS
Community Member

We have three heat links and thermostats. All worked fine for years til yesterday. One now has connection problems betwixt link and thermostat.
I have held down the button on link for 20secs and it is now pulsing blue. When I ask the thermostat to link it responds “failed to connect wirelessly to the Heat link”. It is about 12 feet from it so closer than normal

Any thoughts gratefully received

Hi there and thanks for reaching our Community. I'm sorry to hear about your issue, but I'll do my best to help you out. Please follow these troubleshooting steps and let me know if it solved the issue:

Turn off the WiFi router.
1. Reset the Heat Link by keeping th e button on it pressed for 30 seconds until the LED goes slowly pulsing blue.
2. Take the thermostat off the base and give it a restart, off the base by holding the display and the back of the thermostat pressed for 10-12 seconds. (Hamburger reset)
3. While the thermostat is restarting, do not put it back on the base yet, but instead, reset the Heat Link again just like before.
4. After the Heat Link is reset, put the thermostat back on the base when it asks you to do so on the screen.
5. Go to: Replace Heat Link (underneath the H71 error code) and enter the 6 character entry key from the Heat Link, but do not connect just yet.
6. Restart the Heat Link twice (1 restart is a 10 seconds press, until the LED goes off once).
7. Press connect on the display.

Thanks for this. I have followed your advice but sadly ended up with the same result H71 and a fail to connect

No worries, thanks for trying. Let us just confirm, since we have multiple Heat Link at the location, that we have the correct key on the Heat Link cover, as they may have gotten mixed up at some point. Note the keys on the covers of the Heat Links that are ok and go to each of the working displays and go to Settings> Technical info> Heat Link and make sure those codes match.

Let us also log a few details:

1.Have you had any recent power cuts in your area?
2. Has there been any recent work done on your heating system?
3. What is the distance between the Heat Link and Nest thermostat? Are the Heat Link and display on the same floor?

4. Any electronics between them that could cause interference?

5. Let us also check the power readings on the display. After the Replace Heat Link option you should see Tech info. Access it and go to power and let me know what the battery, Vin and Vusb readings are.
