Since the late winter, our Nest thermostat seems to be having difficulty triggering the outside heat pump, despite being in heat pump mode.
I had an AC pro out to look this week and he said there is nothing wrong with the heat pump or air handler (all electric, no gas). He was able to easily get it heating, then left, and now the Nest is back to not working properly.
Was there a faulty software update in the late winter? Everything else (such as AC) works fine. The outside unit fan kicks on when it needs to generate cold air, and based on the AC pro, nothing is wrong with the outside heat pump or inside air handler. I can fix this for a short period by turning the system off and on. But then, after about 30 minutes, the heat pump turns off but the fan keeps running.
